Armaan Malde is a high-school student at Westminster School, London. Passionate about his belief in the idea that scientific progress should be harnessed towards improving quality of life for all, Armaan is deeply curious about how biochemistry and seeks to learn more about the rich interactions between living matter and chemical substances. These interests were further sharpened when he participated in Brown University’s STEM for Rising 9th and 10th Graders program in July 2024, where he explored how proteins can be used to treat cancer stem cells. Driven by these experiences, Armaan is acutely aware of his reciprocal obligation to society. The Afya Zetu Initiative is one such attempt to realize his beliefs. Through his project, he hopes to address NTDs and support vulnerable communities in taking care of their well-being and ensuring that “our health” truly becomes a shared priority, across nationalities and borders. At school, Armaan is a member of the GK Team, the Brass Band, and the Jazz Band. In his free time, he involves himself with practicing the trombone, and playing cricket and field hockey.
